Coping Models in Russian Proverbs
Abstract
Proverbs are considered as fixed folklore practices to cope with difficult situations. In this paper we analyze the role that proverbs play in coping behavior and reveal some characteristics of the proverbs which serve to translate coping models. According to two types of coping models described by R. Lazarus we distinguish two types of proverbs: problem-focused and emotion-focused.
