Abstract

The article presents the results of the study of age peculiarities of communication of students with mental retardation. The empirical research resulted in an analysis of their aspiration to communicate with children and personal basis for the formation of leadership. It reveals an increase of «selfregulation» as mentally retarded children grew older due to the positive influence of the organization of the correctional education. The 1st form and transition to secondary school are characterized by the reductions in nonverbal communication. In the process of direct learning and correction the indicators of social perception slightly increase from the 2nd to the 7th forms. These features aff ect mentally retarded children and adolescents’ ability to communicate.
