Abstract

In this article we argue that phenomenon of consciousness still has no clear explanation. No one knows where it comes from or what it actually does. We describe diff erent explanations of consciousness that arose throughout the history of psychology and discuss why they are likely to be a dead-end. It is shown that denying an explanation (as it is done in behaviorism) emasculate psychology, leaving it unable to present a good theory. As an alternative we suggest a view of radical cognitivism: psyche and consciousness should be explained by a logic of cognition. Such logic allows us to construe why psyche and consciousness are necessary tools of cognition. We express our hope that it is the path that will help psychology become a logical science.
