This paper presents the results of research into the possibility of using virtual reality technology to develop learners’ cognitive abilities. It is shown that the use of special game technologies on the basis of the complex of virtual reality (Samsung Gear VR) promotes the development of cognitive abilities, including verbal and non-verbal ones (subtests 2–3 and subtests 7–8 of the Amthauer test), of mathematical abilities (subtests 5–6), of short-term memory (subtest 9 of Amthauer test), and also the development of the volume, alertness, stability and distribution of attention.
