Abstract

This article presents the experience of testing a psychological rehabilitation program in the prevention of social deprivation of children of primary school age with cancer and assessing its effectiveness. The presented program of psychological rehabilitation is implemented at the stage of long-term treatment in a medical hospital, as well as during the education of a child of primary school age with cancer in a hospital school. The goal of the psychological rehabilitation program is to increase the success of the reintegration of a child of primary school age with cancer into society after long-term treatment by developing social skills and reducing the level of anxiety. As a result of testing this psychological rehabilitation program, the following scientific and practical results were obtained: in children of primary school age with cancer, already during long-term treatment in a medical hospital and training at a hospital school, the level of social adaptation and social activity increased, and the level of social desirability decreased. Children of primary school age with cancer, because of a psychological rehabilitation program, began to talk more openly about their experiences, emotions, and feelings. All these results can become the basis for successful social reintegration of children of primary school age with cancer after long-term treatment. The scientific and practical result of this study was the development and experimental testing of the implementation of a Model of integrated medical, psychological, and pedagogical care in preparing children of primary school age with cancer for reintegration into society after long-term treatment in a medical hospital. The developed program of psychological rehabilitation can be implemented in the work of clinical psychologists working in children’s medical institutions, as well as in the work of educational psychologists in hospital schools for the purpose of psychological and pedagogical preparation of children of primary school age with cancer for reintegration into society after long-term treatment in medical hospitals.
